Local businesses, fans gear up for AFC championship game

TOPEKA (KSNT) — The Chiefs will play in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium for the fifth straight year. Excited fans and more business at the local pub ensued.

The NFL has been good for business for Topeka’s Jerimiah Bullfrogs on Sunday. But this Sunday, as it has for the past four years, Workers is expecting more than just a Chiefs win.

“When the Chiefs are doing well, it’s very good for pubs and pub sales,” said Bullfrogs employee Lloyd Bias. The other bars around the pickup bring in so much money.”

Big games come with preparation. Bullfrogs staff plan ahead to ensure they don’t run out of what they need to give their customers the best possible game day experience.

“We tend to stock up on supplies and staff to make sure customers have the great experience they want,” Bias said. “It’s like being in a race.”

Chiefs fan Bernie Lusk is equally excited for the game, even though he won’t be at Arrowhead.

“Oh, I’m really excited,” Lusk said. “I almost bought tickets. I wasn’t nervous at all. I think the Chiefs have more support for them now because they won’t let them [Bengals] Do it to them again. They’re going to win the game, I’m sure at least a touchdown. I think they’ll start strong and then come back as they usually do late in the game to make it harder for the Bengals to win anything. “

The Chiefs’ game against the Bengals kicks off Sunday at 5:30 p.m. As with most pubs, you can expect a red tide at Bullfrogs.
